Diesel Marine Mechanic
As a Diesel Marine Mechanic at Stones Boatyard, you’ll diagnose, repair, and service various marine engines (particularly Yanmar, Volvo, Mercruiser), outboard engines, inboard drive trains, saildrives, and associated electrical, electronic, and plumbing systems.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose and service marine engines, generators, and associated systems.
- Advise customers on boat systems.
- Complete paperwork for billing, warranty claims, and internal processes.
- Occasionally work off-site; primarily at Stones Boatyard and Stones Marina.
Requirements
- Marine Mechanical Technician or journeyman certificate (or equivalent experience).
- Willingness to train on new products.
- Experience with marine plumbing and DC electrical systems.
- Ability to use technical information and solve problems under pressure.
- Sociable, team player with a positive attitude.
- Availability for after-hours service calls and weekend standby.
- Mentoring and training apprentices.
- Accurate daily work orders and estimates.
- Good customer relations and clean driving license.
- Own hand tools.
- Must be a Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or hold a valid work visa.
Skills & Experience
- Marine diesel engine service and overhaul experience.
- Customer-focused experience required.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- Relevant American Boat and Yacht Council (ABYC) certification will be an advantage.
- Boating experience is desirable, but not essential.

Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $75,000 to $95,000 per year
